When I was younger I thought that Boxing Day was so-called because of the number of cardboard boxes that were sitting around the house from the present-giving the day before.
Turns out I wasn’t far wrong, as Boxing Day is named because it was day when we observed the ‘tradition of giving gifts to the [...]

One of the staff here is a keen photographer, and came running up my desk this morning with this image he took at dusk last night, which he says were 7 objects in the sky above The Trafford Centre!
The seven shadowy shapes look like paper airplanes, but are far too big to be that when [...]

Our busiest-ever day on Monday was soon followed by our second busiest-ever day on Tuesday – so we’ve truly entered uncharted territory here! Luckily, whilst the incredible numbers of people who have come to The Trafford Centre this week are mind-boggling, our extended opening hours means those crowds are very spread out throughout the day.

Our busiest day ever!

I’VE just been in our weekly management meeting, where we heard that yesterday was officially the busiest day we’ve ever had in terms of the number of shoppers coming to the Centre. We calculate that 176,766 people descended on us!

We’ve just enjoyed our Christmas staff party at TGI Friday’s in The Great Hall, just a few steps from where I work. The cocktails flowed all night, especially the Woo-Woo, and the luscious Long Island Ice Teas.
I learned on the night that not only did TGI’s invent the Happy Hour concept, but they originated the [...]

It’s that time of year again and the sales signs are filling up the shop windows. To be honest, the sales signs have been up for the last few months, as retailers try to persuade shoppers to part with their cash. But the 20% and 30% off level will surely rise to 40% and 50% [...]

I won’t go on and on about this, because it’s an industry award and probably really boring for most of you, but last night The Trafford Centre won the Best Established Centre award at the BCSC Golds! (This is like the ‘Oscars’ of the shopping centre world, and we’re all really chuffed!)
The fab bit is that [...]
